KCC Jazz Collective

Opening this year’s Mash will be The KCC Jazz Collective. Formed in 2015 to help and encourage students to develop a love for jazz improvisation, the group is open to students of all ages.

Performances occur at all of the KCC musical occasions, so don’t miss a rare opportunity to see this group of talented musicians performing outside of the college (for the first time).  

Expect all kinds of Jazz ranging from Mainstream through to Jazz Funk. – Nice !

The Workshop Band

The Dave Sharp Young Musicians will take the stage during our afternoon session.  There will be some long term members and some mash debutants in this years “Workshop Band” all of which will reward your support with an impressive performance. 

A lot of hard work in the volunteer led music workshops has led to some real technical songs finding their way onto the set, look out for some awesome guitar solos, great percussion, cool bass and solid vocals. 

The charity founded in Dave’s memory is now in its 5th year providing opportunity for young aspiring musicians to play in a band and perform on a public stage. As well as the Mash “The Workshop Band” now has a slot at fair week and regular gigs at the Mill Club.

Isaac Flynn

The youngest artist on this years line up is 14 Year old Isaac Flynn.

Isaac has been playing guitar for four years following in the footsteps of a musical family. Grandad performed in bands in the 1960s and Dad plays Bass in a heavy metal band Quad Damage and in The Sheikhs. 

Isaac started out as a bassist, but when he discovered his natural singing voice, he took up the acoustic guitar to compliment it. 

He has been influenced by singer songwriter Jack Johnston and from earlier decades Queen. He also feels  indebted to his guitar teacher Mathieu Cook.

Isaac’s acoustic session will be earthy and honest covering the likes of  Jake Bugg and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. He will then be perform a duet with singer Ella Crossland covering some lighter material showing his ever growing diversity and talent. 

Jazz Gosling

17 year old Jaz Gosling has been writing and playing guitar for 7 years. She now has a collection of songs and hopes an album is coming soon. Her great voice and smooth guitar playing has landed two of her songs, 'Wild Heart' and Song Bird', on BBC Radio Devon as part of BBC Introducing.

The response to the radio air play has resulted in BBC Radio1 academy asking Jaz to play a gig ! A great step to fulfilling an ambition of a career in the music industry. 

Playing the originals and some covers influenced by Izzy Bizu, Ady Suleiman and Jack Johnson Jaz is gigging regularly at local pubs, weddings and now the Mash as part of our afternoon acoustic sessions. A mixture of mellow and upbeat tunes of country and folk, Jaz will leaving you wanting to upload her tunes and take a coastal road trip with your arm hanging out the window or just perfect for a lazy Sunday.

We are incredibly lucky to have one of the most original bands in the south west music scene play this year’s mash.

Totally relevant to the increased crossing over of world music  Malavita are a 7 piece collective of fun seeking musical misfits from the Devon who come together to inspire you to dance, sing and get a little bit crazy. 

 Malavita fuse Latin, funk, reggae and a large helping of soul. A magical mix of infectious sing along, dance-floor-ready original tunes. Expect Heaps of percussion, horns and punchy female vocals from Boo.  PART- EEE !! 

 The Sheikhs

The Sheikhs are a guitar band from Kingsbridge who've hit the scene blasting out rock, indie and alternative covers from the seventies, eighties and nineties.  

On drums Adam Carter, on bass Bob Flynn, on lead guitar Matt Cook, on rhythm guitar and vocals David Hart.

If you're a fan of the songs of The Who, The Beatles, The Doors, David Bowie, The Smiths, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Pixies… if you love the sound and energy of music played live and loud, then you've got to catch The Sheikhs at this years Mash.

TinnedFruit are a 3-piece Garage Rock/Fuzz Pop band from Falmouth, Cornwall, that include local guitarist Danny Withers formerly of The Con. 

With a love for Marc Bolan, Ty Segall and the sweet embrace of Feedback their songwriting and live shows are energetic, loud and drenched in a thick blanket of fuzz.

 Alice Emberton

Alice Emberton is an emerging indie star. At 16, she has a respectable social media following, particularly on her YouTube channel, Alice Emberton Music.

She has been writing and recording her own material for 4 years, which has earned her several local supporting and independent gigs. Influenced by artists such as Amy Winehouse and Lana Del Rey, Alice Emberton offers fresh sound as well as an insightful perspective on adolescence, mental health and all things in between. 

Her debut demo EP, 'Alice Emberton', is due for release in the coming weeks."

Bulletproof Future

Dave Grohl said "buy some instruments get in a shed and form a band' 

That's what Bulletproof future are all about 4 lads playing rock practicing in a shed. Influence from bands such as Arctic monkeys, Foo Fighters, Rage against the machine, they bring you back to what rock music is all about !

Although still at school, Bulletproof are now veterans to the Monster Mash stage, first performing in 2011. 5 years of hard work and commitment will bring you another tight performance, always a highlight of the event.

Classic Rock Co

THE CLASSIC ROCK CO fronted by local legend blues rock guitarist Ray Minhinnett will be this years headline act. 

Covering songs by THE WHO, LED ZEPPLIN, CREAM, HUMBLE PIE, SMALL FACES, FREE and BAD COMPANY. In addition there will be a blast of the hits Ray played on with Frankie Miller and John Coghlan (STATUS QUO), plus material from his own Award Winning album "Don't Get Mad Get Even",

 It’s a recipe for a Fantastic night of Blues tinged Classic Rock... Formed by the very talented local drummer “Extraordinaire”' Rob Brett and Ray in 2015, and given trio status by session bass player Dennis Church. 

A powerful outfit of ‘seasoned pros’ playing with prowess, delivered with soul and passion giving off a special vibe.
